Office of Justice Programs Information Technology Initiatives
REI developed, and is currently maintaining, a dynamic database-driven website (http://it.ojp.gov) that enables justice components at all levels of government to access and obtaining timely information on information-sharing resources and information technology initiatives.
Since 2001, this site continues to experience tremendous growth in its usage by stakeholders. A library of more than 280 external links and documents is maintained at this site. The site integrates a number of previously separate sites such as the Global Justice Information sharing Initiative, Justice Standards Clearinghouse, and Global Justice XML Data Model.

Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Program

REI provides a full range of technical, program, and support services for the development, testing, roll-out, and management of an Internet-based solution designed to aid state and local law enforcement agencies, and units of the federal government, in purchasing bullet-resistant body armor for their officers. REI project staff coordinates closely with the Office of the Comptroller, Office of Justice Programs, for all aspects of management, processing, and internal controls relating to the electronic distribution of payments to jurisdictions.

The primary objective of the BVP Grant Act of 1998 was to establish a matching grants program to save the lives of law enforcement officers. User handbooks for jurisdictions, vendors, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), and other participants were developed as part of this grants management system. Other key responsibilities include help desk support, BVP website maintenance, and implementation of enhancements.

Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLEBG)/Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) Programs

REI was engaged to develop the initial user interface for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLEBG) program that provides funds to law enforcement agencies. REI was then tasked to take over all design and development for the project. The LLEBG system went online for 1999 grants and is an end-to-end online, paperless grants management. This system is currently in Operations and Maintenance Phase (O&M) phase of the system development lifecycle.
