NASA Education Evaluation Information System (NEEIS)
REI provides program-wide support to the EDCATS/NEEIS program,
a vital component of the NASA Implementation Plan for Education.
The internet-based data collection and reporting system developed
by REI supports approximately six hundred NASA-sponsored educational
programs. Program Managers are able to enter information about
the characteristics of their programs and generate reports about
activities carried out within the program. Participants in program
activities are able to provide online feedback via this web-based
system.
REI also maintains and supports hardware and software systems
for data collection, provides roll-up reporting and archiving,
operates the help desk, and maintains and operates the password
and security system. REI was responsible for developing GIS-based
reports that represent the distribution of participants and program
session locations across the USA. Currently, NASA uses the system
to view the participant distribution by “State or Congressional
District” or by “Concentration of Participants”.
Major functional capabilities include:
Enables management to evaluate the effectiveness of NASA-sponsored
education programs
Provides a mechanism to report program performance against
NASA’s
education goals and objectives
Consolidates the system for use by Program Managers, NASA staff
and program participants
Supports NASA-wide, Center-Unique,
and Enterprise programs
Support provided across geographical and organizational boundaries
Provides historical information starting from 1996
Provides support for longitudinal studies and data analysis
