REI Systems Awarded $2.6 Million Federal Emergency Management Agency Contract

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

REI Systems Teams with 3H Technology to Support FEMA’s Development of the Web-based Automated Deployment Database

Annandale, VA – July 6, 2007 - REI Systems announced today that it was awarded a contract by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to web-enable the Automated Deployment Database (ADD). This award was made on the DHS EAGLE contract vehicle. REI was on the winning 3H Technology team – who bid REI exclusively to perform the work.

The new system, WebADD, will be the principal human capital asset management tool supporting FEMA’s disaster management. WebADD will track and monitor all permanent and temporary FEMA employees assigned to support disaster operations. The deployment status and deployment management of disaster workforces will be provided by WebADD. WebADD will also serve as the central authentication database for identifying and authenticating FEMA employees for granting domain and database access to FEMA’s NEMIS operating platform. REI will build upon a WebADD pilot developed as part of REI’s support of FEMA’s Agile Systems Development team (ASD).

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in March 2003.  The primary mission of FEMA is to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the Nation from all hazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters, by leading and supporting the Nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation.

“Serious operational limitations exist in the legacy ADD system due to changes in the FEMA IT infrastructure and operational environment that are not compatible with the older architecture on which ADD was constructed. This combined with significant staff augmentation to provide even marginally acceptable support for Hurricane Katrina response and recovery efforts have made updating this capability a priority for FEMA” says Veer Bhartiya, REI Systems President. “Our FEMA ASD team, led by Srinivas Tata, developed the pilot as a proof of concept to web-enable this capability. Now we will build upon this pilot to rapidly deploy an enterprise capability that is fully integrated with the FEMA NEMIS platform and provides much needed enhancements to functionality and usability. We look forward to our continued support of FEMA’s mission.”
