FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: REI Systems Teams with SRA Touchstone Support OMB’s Implementation of the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act Pilot REI Systems announced today that it was awarded a contract by SRA Touchstone to support the development and integration of a pilot website to support the implementation of the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). FFATA requires OMB to lead the development of a tool to make acquisition, grant, and loan award data publicly available. For the pilot implementation, OMB is forming a team, which includes the Department of Defense (DoD), Non-profits, and private industry, including REI. Additional background information regarding FFATA in general can be found at www.fedspending.gov. REI’s role in this collaboration will be to provide technical support and integration services to support the FFATA pilot website implementation. REI will analyze existing products and capabilities present in both DoD and with Non-profits to determine the best approach for integrating these components and the required data. REI will assess the multiple sources of data needed to fulfill the requirement, the approach for obtaining these data on an as needed basis, and the user-interface for displaying this information to the public in an easy-to-use website. REI will work at the direction of SRA Touchstone, the Program Management Office (PMO) supporting OMB on this initiative. OMB's predominant mission is to assist the President in overseeing the preparation of the federal budget and to supervise its administration in Executive Branch agencies. In helping to formulate the President's spending plans, OMB evaluates the effectiveness of agency programs, policies, and procedures, assesses competing funding demands among agencies, and sets funding priorities. OMB ensures that agency reports, rules, testimony, and proposed legislation are consistent with the President's Budget and with Administration policies. In addition, OMB oversees and coordinates the Administration's procurement, financial management, information, and regulatory policies. In each of these areas, OMB's role is to help improve administrative management, to develop better performance measures and coordinating mechanisms, and to reduce any unnecessary burdens on the public. “The FFATA legislation will bring about full public awareness and access to the more than $1 Trillion in Federal Financial Assistance provided in the form of loans, grants, and contracts. A pilot must be developed and a single, searchable website must be completed by January 2008. Implementing this capability is a priority for OMB” says Veer Bhartiya, REI Systems President. “Our combination of database expertise, web development capability, and Federal grants management experience will allow REI to add significant value and generate results for this project. We stand ready to fully support OMB and SRA Touchstone in this important initiative.” About REI Systems, Inc. For more information, visit www.reisys.com
